Brainport
From their site..The BrainPort vision device is an investigational non-surgical assistive visual prosthetic device that translates information from a digital video camera to your tongue, through gentle electrical stimulation.
When I first saw this technology demonstrated, we did not yet have computers in our school, no one did.
Dr. Paul Bach-Y-Rita did a slide show and voice over at a biofeedback conference in the early 80s in NYC. I was in the very crowded audience. He spoke of a notion he called augmented sensory feedback. To me it crystallized and helped to organize a basket of thoughts regarding sensory integration and rehabilitation.
Now after all these years there is a product that uses tissue transmission to send visual images to the brain.
Time flies...but product development moves more slowly.
Take a look..http://vision.wicab.com/technology/
